The Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited Entrance Awards, offered to students for whom the cost of pursuing a post-secondary education would be a serious impediment, still requires a paper application form with a detailed budget. January 31 is the deadline for a student to apply for the UBC Entrance Award. These awards are intended for academically qualified students who would not be able to attend UBC without significant financial assistance. Please note that there are two separate application forms for our two campuses, and that students are eligible to apply to both.
What: a day-long symposium for high school students about social justice issues
When and where: Saturday January 31st at Byrne Creek Secondary in Burnaby and Saturday February 28th at Carson Graham Secondary in North Vancouver This is a special event for students who aspire to create change in their communities and who are looking for opportunities to learn more about social justice issues. The day will include fun workshops, games, and an NGO fair for students to meet with local organizations and learn how they can put their passion into action. Workshops include topics on the stigma around mental health, gender equality, and food security. This is a free event and lunch will be provided at no cost.
