KPU Discovery Days!

Discovery Days are a rare opportunity to learn what it's like to be a KPU student. Activities include:
  • A mock KPU class (Science, Business, or Arts option)

General Description: 

Under the direction of nurses, hospital staff and physicians, care aides (also known as nurse aides, resident care aides and orderlies) assist in the basic care of residents. They are employed in hospitals, long-term care facilities, group homes, home support and community care.

Care aides require physical stamina and strong interpersonal skills to carry out the regular duties associated with this occupation. Sensitivity and patience are also crucial qualities for creating a comfortable environment for patients.
Care aides have excellent observational skills. They should be able to adapt to constantly changing environments and carefully follow direction, policy and procedure. English fluency is also important. Care aides provide basic patient care.

Duties include:
  • Taking basic measurements, temperature and pulse
  • Performing basic personal care under the direction of a nurse
  • Observation and monitoring patient status and reporting changes to supervisor
  • Collection of specimens for sampling
  • Provision of assistance in patients' activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing and grooming and eating
  • Moving physically challenged patients with specialized equipment
  • Supervision of patients' exercise routines
  • Maintenance of an inventory of supplies
  • Performance of various maintenance tasks, such as assisting with set-up and maintenance of traction equipment, cleaning or sterilizing equipment, and maintaining and repairing equipment

If you have applied or are planning to apply to ANY Post-Secondary Institutions for Fall 2017, you MUST release your official electronic transcripts to the schools where you have applied. This is done by logging into the Ministry of Education website (below) and checking off the locations that you have applied. The process takes less than 5 minutes and can be done easily at any computer at home or school.

IMPORTANT:  If a Post-Secondary Institution specifically asks for you to send them a paper transcript of grades, you will have to obtain one from the school office and mail it to the school directly. (example: BCIT)

The Ministry of Education will send official electronic transcripts to PSIs in May and July.

THE PSI SELECTIONS FORM MUST BE COMPLETED BY MAY 1
