Several scholarships are available that require Delview to nominate candidates. If you would like to be considered for nomination, please complete a Brag Sheet and submit it to Ms Derksen by Tue April 14. Brag Sheets are available in the Career Centre. If you already have a Brag Sheet on file, you will automatically be considered.
Generally, the scholarship criteria are for scholastic ability, community commitment, and sometimes financial need or other hardships.
If you are chosen as one of Delview’s nominees, you may have to complete an application package. A final decision on most winners will be made by the Delta School District’s Committee.
Our goal is to welcome young women between the ages of 16-18 and give them an introduction to our very exciting and challenging career over a weekend. This camp is organized and run by professional female and male firefighters on behalf of municipalities throughout the Greater Vancouver and Fraser Valley area. During the camp the camp participants will be introduced to firefighting and rescue skills, participate in team building activities, receive first aid training and receive a CPR level A certificate.
This year’s program will take place from August 6th to August 19h, 2015 in a similar vein as last year’s program including Vancouver, Coquitlam, Delta and Maple Ridge Fire’s training facilities. We are aiming to have 20 High School aged girls take part in Camp Ignite for 2014.
The application form is attached here with a closing date of May 21, 2015. Please have all interested students submit their applications by mail or email to Derek Christiansen at firstname.lastname@example.org .
For more information about Camp Ignite please visit our website at www.campignite.com or view a brief camper activities slideshow from the past 2011 and 2012 camps at http://youtu.be/wTNKhiPVioQ
