The Community Scholarships and the Dogwood Scholarships for Delview's Grade 12s (2014)

4/22/2014

Community Scholarships

Applications for these scholarships are available as of Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in the Career Centre or on Delview's Home Page. They are scholarships or bursaries that come from organizations within the community and cover a wide range of eligibility (e.g., where you went to elementary school, your educational goal, your gender, community service you’ve performed, financial need, the trade you’re going into, etc.). Their value varies considerably.

The application consists of one form with an awards list attached. Fill out the form and check off the scholarships you’re eligible for. If any of the scholarships you’ve checked off require additional forms or letters, attach those too. Drop the whole application in the red box in the Career Centre by 3:15 on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.

NOTE: Brag Sheets are the same as the Community Scholarships application form. If you have completed a Brag Sheet, you may attach a copy of it to the awards list (make sure you check off the awards you’re eligible for) and submit that as your application.

Dogwood Scholarships

Applications for these scholarships are available as of Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in the Career Centre or on Delview's Home Page. They are scholarships that come from the government to recognize non-academic achievements, and they are worth $1000. If you have outstanding accomplishments in one of the following six categories, you can apply: Fine Arts, Applied Skills, Physical Activity, Second Languages, Community Service, Technical & Trades Training.

The application includes a form, three (3) teacher or sponsor reference forms, and a typed statement of 300 words. Drop the whole application in the red box in the Career Centre by 3:15 on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. If you are selected as one of the finalists, you will be asked to demonstrate your ability during a 5-minute presentation at an assigned time. You can perform, show videos or pictures of your work, bring samples or trophies, use a PowerPoint, and certainly talk about your accomplishments.

Any questions, please contact Ms Derksen.
