POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Canucks Autism Network provides sports & rec programming to individuals and families living with autism throughout BC. Our Multisport Day Camp is a great opportunity for children and teens with autism to try a variety of sports activities and stay active during the summer! Sports will include soccer, softball, football in an outdoor setting.
Volunteers assist our support workers in their interaction with and instruction to our participants, gaining extremely valuable experience in a fun and exciting setting! Volunteers will role modeling proper participation, providing lots of positive encouragement to our participants, assisting with equipment set up and take down and more!
DATES: Monday, July 24-Friday, July 28
TIMES: 9:00 am-12:30 pm and/or 12:45-2:15 pm
LOCATION: Newton Athletic Park turf field
*Program Orientation: Wed, June 28; 6:30-8:30 pm @ CAN office (2020 Yukon St, Vancouver)
DELIVERABLES/DUTIES: *Assist support workers in their interaction with and instruction to participants
*Assist with visual tools that are used to complement communication with participants
*Set up and take down sports equipment
*Model proper participation to participants
*Contribute to a fun and safe environment!
QUALIFICATIONS: *Must be 16 yrs+
*No autism or sports expertise required -- volunteers work closely with trained and qualified staff
*Volunteers must be enthusiastic, patient and team-oriented!
*Volunteers must enjoy working with children and motivated to make a difference!

WORKING CONDITIONS: August 3rd + Training days
General Posting: Please note that this is a day position for the 2017 Mega Job Fair and Business Expo. You must be available for training sessions two weeks prior to the start of the Fair for orientation, training and any required departmental Fair set-up.

Overview: The Progressive Intercultural Community Service Society is dedicated towards serving the Greater Vancouver community. This is the 10th year we will be holding the Mega Job Fair. Last year we had over 100 exhibitors and over 4700 attendees at the event. We strive to create an environment of equality, leadership, and teamwork. This event will not be possible without the help of respectful and professional volunteers.
We are looking for approximately 39 volunteers to contribute to a successful Mega Job Fair and Business Expo. This event will be taking place on August 3rd. There is a variety of positions available.

Burns Bog Summer Day Camps are run entirely outdoors with both English and French weeks. We aim to get kids outside and active - connecting with nature and their community. We create activities, games, and crafts that teach our campers about leadership, wilderness survival, stewardship and sustainability through our natural setting - the unique ecosystem of Burns Bog! The Burns Bog Conservation Society was founded in 1988 to save Burns Bog from development and protect and sustain it for future generations. The society is a non-profit which works to ensure the Bog is conserved and currently does this through education and advocacy. The Society develops educational programs for schools in British Columbia, operates summer day camps, tours and field trips in Burns Bog, and raises awareness of this local treasure.
