IMPORTANT if you are planning to attend post-secondary

12/20/2012

Some of you have done this. All of you need to if you’re going on to post-secondary. It’s simpler than it looks. What you’re doing is indicating the post-secondary institutions you’re planning to attend, and then giving your permission to the Ministry of Education to send your transcript electronically to those schools. If you don’t do this, the post-secondary institutions won’t have your transcript when they need it for making decisions about admission.

If you have problems, come see Ms Derksen and she can walk you through it.

The Computer Science Department at UBC is a top-ranked Computer Science department in Canada, as well as in North America. Our professors are leading researchers and outstanding instructors.  Our department offers multiple and flexible program options to undergraduate students.

We are planning great events for your students this year.  One of these events is the TECHTREK workshop series for Grade 8 to 12 students offered on Saturday mornings starting January 19, 2013.  For grade 11 and 12 students, each workshop will consist of short talks by one of our professors and an industry representative followed by a hands-on activity. Students in Grades 8 to 10 will participate in a series of fun, hands-on activities that introduce them to Computer Science. Last year we had representatives from Google, Silicon Sisters, and Pixar attending!  Participants will also have a chance to win fun prizes and parents and teachers are welcome to attend.  For more information and to reserve a seat please visit our website at:
