Most offers for first-year housing at UBC have already gone out. Students have to accept their offers quickly, so please encourage them to log into their Student Service Centre account to secure their spot in residence as soon as possible.
Deferring their offers of admission
Students who would like to defer their offer of admission to UBC for one year must submit aDeferred Admission Request Form by July 15, or 30 days after an offer of admission is made, whichever is later. Approved deferrals will include housing offers and scholarships. Deferrals are not intended for students who wish to pursue post-secondary studies at another university. Students who accept offers of admission elsewhere will need to apply to UBC again next year.
Talking to students about revokes and appeals
UBC's offers of admission are conditional on students meeting and maintaining certain requirements. If a student’s offer is revoked, they may appeal the decision. Successful appeals may be granted if there is new mitigating information or if an error was made in UBC's assessment of the student’s application. You can find more information about appeals on the Vancouver campus Academic Calendar and the Okanagan campus Academic Calendar.
Connecting with campus supports to plan first year
Students who are admitted to UBC's Okanagan campus who have questions about their next steps, including course selection, can meet with an Academic Advisor or connect with a studentPeer Advisor. Peer advisors are upper year student volunteers, trained to help new-to-UBC students with their academic transition from high school to university. UBC’s Vancouver campus has specialized non-academic advisors who are here to support each student before they arrive at UBC and up until the day they graduate. By now, each admitted student will have been assigned an Enrolment Services Professional (ESP). Students can expect to hear from their ESP shortly, but please encourage them to connect with their ESP early to get support and assistance planning for their finances and their studies at UBC.
