Students interested in the Nursing (BSN) program at Douglas College generally apply to the Academic Foundations in Nursing Studies (AFNS) program first and complete the 10 required courses. However, due to excess demand for the required Biology (1103, 1203, 2200, 2401) courses, the AFNS program is currently full; thus, Douglas is not accepting any new students for this program until further reevaluation in Spring 2014. Therefore, students are advised to apply to either the General Studies or Academic Foundations programs instead and complete the 6/10 other required courses first. Biol 1103 and 1203 can be taken at another institutions and transferred to Douglas; please check course transferability with Douglas Advisors prior to registering in these courses at another institution. Admission to the BSN program is highly competitive, thus it is recommended to get better grades than the required minimum C+ grade in each course.
High School Students Already Accepted to Douglas, What To Do Next?
Grade 12 students that have been accepted at Douglas should come to see an Academic Advisor during Drop-In Advising session at their earliest convenience to do course planning for their program and learn about registration. Registration for Winter 2014 will take place mid November. It is highly recommended that students attend a Registration Procedures and Course Selection Process Information Session before their first semester (Dates-TBA soon).
