The Academy provides Grade 11 and 12 students a unique opportunity to learn about the application process, training and a career in law enforcement. It’s not just a job, it’s a starting point. We’re looking for enthusiastic students entering grade 11 and 12 to join our Coast Community Youth Team. If you’re interested in gaining paid, on the job experience by working in one of our branches and the community, we’d love to meet you.
Who's eligible? Students entering grade 11 or 12 in September 2015 and living in Surrey, North Delta, Richmond or Victoria are encouraged to apply. Community service and volunteer experience are great assets. What does the Youth Team do? The position starts July 1, 2015 and ends July 1, 2016. As a paid member of our Youth Team, you’ll work as a Community Ambassador and as a Service Pro (you may know them as “tellers”) in one of our branches, where you will process daily customer transactions and handle customer inquiries. Your hours will be part-time during the school year and full-time in the summer for one full year. Representatives from all our program areas will be on hand to answer questions and provide insight into life at Cap. Attendees can grab a snack at our cafeteria, hear a presentation and student panel discussion, and check out the campus on a self-guided tour.
This event is generally only open to KPU students, however, this year high school students can attend from 2-3pm. This is an excellent opportunity to network with over 50 employers at our Surrey campus, make valuable industry contacts, and discuss current and future career opportunities. Registration opens March 2, 2015. The TTCW is open for all female students in grades 9-12 who are interested in finding out more about skilled trade and technology career opportunities. Registration is very limited and is on a first come first serve basis. 'Anything You Can Do', presented by the IBEW, aims to bring together female students and pair them with women who are employed in a diverse range of sectors represented at the BC Skills Competition. Participants will explore Trades and Technologies firsthand while networking with women who have found success in trades and technology careers. Some of the careers highlighted will be Architectural CAD, Culinary Arts, Electrical, Plumbing, TV/Video Production, Landscape Gardening, and Robotics and many more!
