Our scholarships will be awarded to three deserving high school graduates who are pursuing post-secondary education, in the amount of $500.00 each. Priority will be given to students in financial need.
Eligibility, You must be:
- a resident of British Columbia;
- a student currently in your last year of secondary school (i.e. Grade 12) in Metro Vancouver, with plans of entering post-secondary education after graduation.
Selection Criteria, You must demonstrate:
- financial need (only winners will be required to provide family tax return for 2021);
- academic achievement;
- leadership and/or volunteer achievement;
- a desire to finish a post-secondary degree or program (certificate, diploma, bachelor’s degree, etc.).
Application Process, To apply for a gfnf scholarship:
- fill out the attached application form;
- include one recommendation letter from a teacher, mentor, or leader in your community;
- include a copy of your most recent academic transcript;
- provide evidence of your enrollment to a post-secondary school in the coming academic year or provide a proof of enrollment within 12 months of your graduation (financial awards may be issued directly to the institution of your enrollment);
- write one 500-word essay (approx. 1 page) on the topic:
“What are your ideas to reduce systemic bias and inequity in society?” Preference given to personal essays as opposed to general essays.
Winning essays may be published on gfnf’s website.

Your application form and all appropriate attachments must be received by no later than May 31st, 2022, 11:59:59 PM PST.
