For the eighth year in a row, the Mineral Resources Education Program of BC (MREPBC) is hosting a careers exploration day for secondary students on Monday, January 24, 2011. The MREPBC is extending a special invitation to all secondary students interested in learning more about the modern minerals industry and careers it offers. Some of the special invited guests this year are students from Ms. Jennifer Artibise's Geology 12 class at West Vancouver Secondary. Their geology projects will be on display in the Roundup Poster Session.

- A graduating BC Grade 12 student who wishes to attend a BC post-secondary institution - Consistent improvement in academic competence - School or community involvement or service to others - ESL coursework at the secondary level Documents are in the Career Centre. A $5,000 Black Press Business Scholarship is available for students from 37 BC communities entering UVic’s business program in September 2011.
Awards will be based on academic merit, leadership and a demonstrated desire to make a positive difference in the world. To be eligible, students must have applied to the BCom program and have submitted all scholarship documents by mail or in person to UVic. The scholarship deadline is February 28, 2011. For grade 11 and 12 students, each workshop will consist of short talks by one of the professors and an industry representative, followed by a hands-on activity.
