Application Deadlines:
Our March 1 Scholarship Deadline is fast approaching. To be eligible for scholarship and/or financial aid, students must complete both their admissions application and scholarship application before this date. Currently, we are reviewing admissions applications weekly, on a rolling basis. Scholarship reviews start after March 1. Students will spend two weeks this July engaged in hands-on research and learning with UBC professors at the beautiful Okanagan campus - a total university experience.
Two exciting courses to choose from: Environmental Sciences, in which students tackle the hot topic of sustainability, and explore it through field research in lab and natural surroundings of the Okanagan valley. New this year! Applied Science, in which students are introduced to the design process through applied engineering projects, and explore topics ranging from robotics technology to 3D printing. The Summer Scholars Program is a non-credit course that will give students a solid foundation in environmental or applied sciences. They will: · Complete a final study project, perfect for any college application · Live on campus and be mentored by current UBC students · Explore the city of Kelowna, a top tourist destination in BC · Meet and make friends from all over the world [video] - more than 70 students from 27 countries have participated so far Who is eligible? Students must be: · Between 16 and 18 years of age; · Entering one of their final two years of high school; · In good academic standing (unofficial transcript required); and · Be able to undertake studies in English at a university level Thursday, February 19, 2015
Delview library 7 pm Grade 10 and 11 students: You and your parents are welcome to attend a presentation about course planning and post-secondary information. The deadline to register is this Friday, if you know of a couple of students who would benefit from learning about what awaits them in university applied science programs, please pass this along – note that pre-registration is required. Late registrations may be accepted if space allows. This is a great event for grade 11 students too who are looking to get a jump on their university exploration. Parents are welcome, should they wish to attend.

What: Students will have the chance to meet other students, see the campus and the kinds of projects that students undertake and check out classes and research in Engineering and Computing Science. YOUth between the ages of 14 - 25 are encouraged to apply. The DYSL 'WearHouse' Thrift Store will operate 7 days a week. See store hours above. Examples of jobs at the WearHouse are: sorters, pricers, cashiers, social media assistants, fashion show event assistants, display coordinators, and lots more. Learn to do one, or all, and have fun doing it!
We will provide mentorship, employment skills, references to post secondary institutions & employers, credit hours for grad transitions. Our volunteers receive a discount on merchandise as do students with ID. Youth in Delta are conscious of their civic footprint and looking for opportunities to learn, lead and grow. Delta Youth Support Link Society exists to empower youth to live their lives to their fullest potential. We do this by providing funding to secondary schools and community groups to encourage youth in Delta to engage in leadership, social justice and environmental activities in their school community as well as the community at large. This year we funded youth initiated projects in high schools in South and North Delta to develop leadership, empowerment and volunteerism.
