Deadline Sunday, February 15: Burt Award for First Nations, Métis and Inuit LiteratureThe Burt Award is given annually to English-language literary works for Young Adults written by First Nations, Métis or Inuit authors. Eligibility is by nomination only. Up to three prizes will be awarded to the writer, translator and graphic novel illustrator (if applicable) of the winning books.

2. Deadline Monday, February 16: Indspire Bursaries and Scholarship AwardsIndspire has a new, one-time deadline for First Nations, Inuit or Metis students who did not receive funding from an application submitted June 1 or November 1, 2014. There are two types of awards - Post Secondary Education and Health Careers.
An Indspire representative will be in Sty-Wet-Tan Hall in the First Nations Longhouse on Wednesday, February 11 at 2:00 PM to walk through the application form and answer any questions.

Deadline Saturday, February 28: Health Sciences Association (HSA) Aboriginal BursariesHSA provides two $1000 bursaries to Aboriginal students from BC who are continuing or proceeding in any HSA-related field leading to a recognized certification, degree or diploma at a public college, university or other post-secondary educational institution. Previous HSA scholarship or bursary winners are ineligible.

4. Deadline Saturday, February 28: Explore Bursary ProgramExplore is a five-week intensive French-immersion bursary program that is offered during the spring or summer for people with any skill level in French. Explore participants are awarded a $2,200 bursary that covers tuition fees for the course, instructional materials, meals, and accommodation. Recipients will spend time in another region of Canada while learning French in classes adapted to their language level.

5. Deadline Tuesday, March 31: Irving K. Barber BC Aboriginal Student AwardsAwards of $1,000 - $5,000 are available for Aboriginal people pursuing post-secondary education at a B.C. public post-secondary institution or Aboriginal-run institutions.

6. Deadline Tuesday, March 31: Irving K. Barber BC Aboriginal Teacher Education AwardsThis award is specifically designed to encourage and facilitate the training of Aboriginal teachers. Students must be registered full-time and be beginning their second (or later year) of study in a teacher education program at a BC university. Awards are $5,000 annually for a maximum of four years.

7. Deadline Wednesday, April 15: BC Hydro Aboriginal ScholarshipsNine Aboriginal scholarships are awarded to selected B.C. Aboriginal students currently enrolled in a full-time post-secondary institution. Students pursuing an education in technology or engineering will be considered priority applicants; however general admission students are encouraged to apply. Previous recipients are ineligible.

8. UBC Aboriginal Awards program includes twenty-five awards totaling approximately $35,000 in bursaries, scholarships, and awards for Canadian Aboriginal students. Several of these awards are available to students in Aboriginal-focused course work. Students can apply for Aboriginal scholarships and bursaries by submitting the Aboriginal Awards application form. The application form is available in March, and the deadline is June 2, 2014.

You can filter the bursaries through an easy to use search option based on location, field of study, institution or keywords. This is a great way to find awards.
