On behalf of the Music department at Douglas College, I would like to invite them to "Do a day of Music at Douglas" in the month of March. Students may contact me directly to arrange for individual or small group visits to meet with our faculty members, join ensemble rehearsals and participate in academic music classes. There are many options, and so the day is tailored to the interests of the student. This is a great option for Spring Break!
As you may know, our Music Department offers three distinct music programs to students wishing to pursue full-time music study after high school:
- Our two-year Music Diploma Program prepares students to enter the third year of a Bachelor of Music program at most Canadian universities. New: Contemporary options for concentration instruments - please see our Prospective Music Students' information handbook for more details:
- Our one-year Basic Musicianship Certificate Program meets the needs of students who want to explore an interest in music through a comprehensive program of study or who require additional preparation for entrance into a Bachelor of Music degree program.
- NEW for Fall 2016: We will be launching our two-year Music Technology Diploma Program! The MTD program is designed for students who wish to combine their passion for music with marketable skills in audio engineering and music production.
Douglas College holds regular Information Sessions with opportunities to learn more about our music programs and tour our facilities. Students may register online at:www.douglascollege.ca/info. The upcoming sessions for Music are on March 10th, and April 7th.
To help you get to know us better, our music instructors are also available to visit your music classes and offer free workshops or coaching sessions. We are happy to customize our sessions to your needs and preferences. Some options include:
- Voice and/or movement workshops with Erica Northcott, Voice Division Head
- Instrumental ensemble clinics with Dr. John van Deursen, Head of Instrumental Ensembles
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear from you and your students soon!
Sincerely yours,
Heather Harty Scott
