Projects Abroad sends volunteers ages 16 and up to 29 countries to do over 150 different unpaid internships and service projects, including in fields such as teaching, medicine, and social work. Most volunteers go on gap years or during summer vacation, for as little as 2 weeks and up to a year.
For more information, see the website: http://www.projects-abroad.ca/ All students in grades 10 - 12 from across metro Vancouver are invited. Meet CBC personalities and learn all about News Day in BC. Sign up to attend one of these workshops held at the Alice Mackay Room at the Vancouver Public Library's Central Branch.
Workshop Dates Saturday February 2: 11:00 a.m. - noon Sunday February 3: 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. For further information and to sign up: http://www.cbc.ca/bc/newsday/ UBC will notify students shortly after the application deadline (January 31) about how and when to self-report their grades. This year self-reporting is now mandatory. BC secondary school applicants who are instructed by UBC to self-report their grades must do so to be considered for admission.
A few steps students can take to make sure we are able to give them the most timely decision: Personal Education Number: It is mandatory that students provide their PEN in order to self-report. PSI Choices: UBC will only receive official transcripts from the Ministry of Education if the student has filled out the PSI choices form. Distributed learning [online] courses: Students can only self-report distributed learning course grades that are on their home school report card or on their Ministry portal during the self-reporting period. As such, students should connect with their distributed learning course provider to make sure their grades will be sent to the Ministry. Note that the Ministry will only report grades for distributed learning courses that are at least 50% complete. Thursday, January 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
