Grads applying for the District/Authority are recommended to also apply for the Community Awards (we have $23,000 funds from our 30 sponsors).
Requirements:
- application form
- 1-page written statement
- 2 references (I don't need a reference letter; the referee will have to fill out a form and it must be sent directly to me either handing it in or by email)
- 5-minute Presentation (talk about their focus area and show evidence of work)
Submission date:
- Application form - May 10 (let me know if you have any concerns on the submission date)
- Written statement - May 15
- Reference forms - referees to submit it to me by May 15
- 5-minute Presentation - around 4th week of May

Focus areas:
1. Indigenous Languages and Culture (demonstrated at school or in the community)
2. Fine Arts Visual Arts, Dance, Theatre, Painting & Drawing, Drama, Music)
3. Applied Design, Skills and Technologies (Business, Technology, Home Economics, IT, WEX)
4 Physical Activity (Athletics, Dance, Gymnastics, not limited to Physical Education)
5. International/Second Languages (with Integrated Resource Packages or External Assessments, including AP and IB courses)
6. Community - 50 hour minimum (school service, volunteer work) included demonstration of global and cultural issues)
7. Technical & Trades (Apprenticeship programs, Auto Mechanics, Electrician, Youth Train in Trades, Youth Work in Trades, Maker Lab, CTC, etc)
Students may apply to more than one focus area but can only win one District/Authority Scholarship
To be eligible for the Provincial Scholarships Program, you must meet core eligibility requirements.
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (landed immigrant) and have that on record with the school at which you registered for Grade 12
- Be a B.C. resident
- Be or have been in the school year for which the scholarship is awarded:Enrolled in a British Columbia public school (including Distributed Learning schools), or
- Enrolled in a Continuing Education Centre, or
- Registered as a homeschooler with a public, independent, or distributed learning school in B.C.
- Complete all graduation requirements, and be on record as having graduated, by August 31 of the scholarship awards year (Scholarship awards years operate from September 1 to August 31)
